Written by Dave:
We had a fun expedition down to Liverpool to see "The Beatles Story" with the Hughes family on Saturday, Dec. 5!
I loved The Beatles Story experience, its really well done with lots of original guitars, clothes, images, stories, and of course, Beatles music playing from start to finish.
They've even taken original stages, doors, props etc. from famous places like The Cavern and the Casbah and re-created the stages and interiors of these places. Pretty cool.
Interesting stuff about the Beatles:
-The Beatles were the first band to fill a stadium. In 1965 55,600 people showed up to see the Beatles at Shea Stadium, but the screaming was so loud, and so long, that most people couldn't hear the music.
-The Beatles are still the best selling musicians in the US, at 178,000,000 sales.
-As of 2015, they STILL hold the record for most #1 hits on Billboard, at 20.
-They have sold more singles in the UK than any other act.
-They are the best selling band in history, world wide, with 600,000,000 sales.
-They won an Academy award for best musical score.
-They won 10 Grammys.
All this, and they were only together 10 years! The Rolling Stones have been together to this day but are still playing catch up.
John Lennon's original band was The Quarrymen, which he formed when he was 16. Paul McCartney joined when he was 15, and George Harrison was 14 when he became lead guitarist.

One of Elvis' belts. The Beatles were big fans of Elvis.
The stage of The Cavern, Liverpool's famous music club where The Beatles, Eric Clapton, The Rolling Stones, Queen, Elton John, and many other English acts played in the 1960's

The boys, sporting John Lennon glasses. They wear them well, I'd say!

A monument given to the city of Liverpool by our church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in memory of the massive migration of British people to the Americas (about 9 million of them!) from this harbour.
A few interesting facts from our church's website:
Liverpool: Site where the first LDS missionaries landed in Britain on 19 July 1837. Liverpool was the headquarters of the Church in Britain from 1842 to 1929. It was also the chief port of embarkation for America and the site where the Millennial Star and other important Church publications were originally printed.

Walking with the Beatles :)

The song is written about this street. We drove to the street to get a picture of the street sign.
Unfortunately, as we were leaving, Janae tripped and fell when we were leaving. She was running with her hands in her pockets and fell right on her face! It was so scary. We thought for sure her glasses would be broken and she would have broken teeth! Luckily the glasses were fine and her teeth were okay, too, but she hurt a hand and her lip and hip and one knee pretty bad. Poor girl. She had a fat lip and scratches for a few days.
