Yesterday we had a wonderful Sabbath day! We attended church in Kirkcaldy and we were warmly greeted by the members there. They made us feel so welcome, we almost want to move here! :) They were having a meal of soups and bread after the meetings, and they invited us to stay and enjoy it with them. Many people introduced themselves and visited with us. The speakers and teachers gave great lessons, too. Their piano player couldn't be there, so we sang the hymns acapella style :).

A funny "Scotland pride" moment: at church our kids all went to the same Sunday School class together. They said that there was another family there from the USA, (from Logan, UT!), and so there were 6 Americans in the class, and only 4 Scottish kids! So the teacher had them all stand, and loudly proclaim, "Scotland!"! Haha :) Then she said, "Ok, everyone now stand and say with the same vigor, "I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ!" Funny lady! :)

After church, we went into Edinburgh. What a beautiful and amazing city! We first went to St. Giles' Cathedral. Wow! Gorgeous. Made out of stone and many beautiful stained glass windows.

We were lucky to be there when a small orchestra was practicing. They sounded AMAZING! The acoustics were unreal!

Just across the street were a couple of guys dressed in traditional Scottish garb playing the bagpipes. Very cool! Our visit to Scotland wouldn't have been complete if we hadn't seen some bagpipers!

We didn't go in here yesterday, but I think we need to today!
"I love shortbread, I love jewellery, I love clans, I love cashmere, I love kilts, I love lambswool" the "I Love Scotland" store! :)

Lastly, we went in the Scotland National Galleries. They have some beautiful artwork. We really enjoyed wandering through here for a little while.
Tyler, learning about this painting.

Janae and I reading about the painting on the right. It's of Achilles mourning the death of his friend Patroclus in the Trojan war.
Two Rembrandts. The left is a self-portrait. The right is of Anna, the prophetess.
As we were walking back to the car, we saw this statue. I read the plaque, and it's of Maxwell, a mathematical physicist. Janae is taking math and physics right now, and exclaimed, "I hate him"  when I said who he was! HAHA.

We got to end our evening with visits with Austin and Brooke & Skyler on Facetime. It was great to visit with them again and swap stories of the week.
