It was a quiet few days for us at the beginning of the week here in England. On Monday I returned our rental car with Aunt Marian. We took the trains home. It was my first time traveling on the trains here in England. I'm glad she was with me - it made me much more at ease, and gave me confidence for our upcoming train travel. :) Janae and Josh did a bunch of school work to get ahead, Dave went golfing for a while, and in the evening Tyler went with Uncle Mick to the TT motorcycle races! He had fun there! I asked him to take some pix, but he didn't... so no visuals. Bummer. In the evening Dave, Aunt Marian & I played a bunch of rounds of golf, the card game. It was a very intense evening, in which Aunt Marian came out triumphant!

We found some Bakewell Tarts at the local grocery store, so we thought we had better try them, seeing that we had visited Bakewell! They were pretty good. Not our favorite treat ever, but tasty. Here's a visual:

On Tuesday, Dave went to work with Peter for the day... and 8 holes of golf of course.

His wife Claire came over and we worked on family history together. She was very helpful and taught me some good things. It was fun to work together. We were able to put 2 families together, which was exciting to me. :) We spent 4 hours together, but it felt like 2! The kids did school work again, and I did some shopping, packing & travel preparation (it feels like that is my part-time job!).

On Wednesday, we headed out on our next adventure - to London! I have wanted to come here since 19 years ago, when we came to England with our young family, but didn't go to London. We made our way to the train station, walking, (Mick and Marian live a 5 minute walk from the station), and our luggage was transported by Aunt Marian. We had to take 3 different trains, and one trip on the underground (the "tube") to get to our apartment. We made it just fine. There sure are a lot of people who use public transportation here! It is always a bustling place!

As we travelled on the train to London I looked around myself at one point and this is what I saw: as we whipped through the countryside there was a beautiful blue sky, with a few white clouds, Janae was reading "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen, Tyler was reading "The Bourne Identity" by Robert Ludlum, Josh was taking a nap, I had been reading, and Dave was playing "Pacman" on his phone. This was our reality whilst the rest of England was at work or in school, and our USA friends were sound asleep. :)
