We ventured into Wales on Friday, Oct. 16th! None of us had been there before. We didn't want to drive too far, because we were just doing a day outing. So the landscape wasn't different than where we were staying in Bewdley, but we could tell we were in a different country by the signage! The Welsh language is very different! Luckily all of their signs were in English as well!

First we went to Welshpool, a cute town, and had lunch. Tyler and I ordered milkshakes, and discovered that over here, a milkshake is sweet, flavored milk, not ice cream! It was tasty, but not what we were expecting.

We then drove to Powis Castle, which is a medieval castle from around 1200 A.D. It was altered and added to for 400 years or so. It has a world famous garden, and it's original lead statues and orangery. We loved it, especially the gardens. No photos were allowed inside, but I grabbed a few off of the internet. It has gorgeous paintings, tapestries, and murals.

See how crazy the Welsh language is!!
 From the internet:

The state bedroom is one of the prized rooms of Powis. A bedroom, and especially a fine bed, was an important symbol of wealth and status in aristocratic circles. Many times, these stately bedrooms were made as lavish as possible, hoping to attract the reigning king or queen to visit the castle. Although it wasn't uncommon for those visits to bankrupt estates, as the monarchs showed up with hundreds of people in their entourage, who all had to be housed, fed, and generally looked after at the land owners expense. Notice the railing across the foot of the bed. That is in the French style. People would come watch royalty sleep, but they were not allowed to pass the railing! That's a little creepy!!!

Just a funny one.
We wondered how the gardens would be, seeing that it's October, but they were wonderful.

What a romantic place for a kiss! :)

Janae peeking through the window in the shrubbery. Haha.
Perfectly groomed hedges.

Haha, another one snapped by Tyler.
Our best friend! :) The "Satnav", or in America "GPS".

We stopped in Cleobury for dinner at a fun little place, and got burgers, chicken salads, and gyros. Great day!
